Pediatricians are crucial doctors for children. They are doctors who see the needs of infants, children, and adolescents. For many young people, a pediatrician is the primary care provider from birth, perhaps, through the age of 18.

Pediatricians are important because of their comprehensive assessments of people. On St. Louis Children, it says, “Pediatricians conduct comprehensive assessments of children’s physical, emotional, and social well-being, considering their unique developmental needs and family dynamics. They collaborate with other healthcare professionals as needed to provide holistic care”. Without pediatricians, children won't be able to get a comprehensive assessment depending on their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Another reason is for the child to have trust. On Haywood pediatricians, it says, “Without a pediatrician in Clyde, NC, that you can trust, it’s hard to ensure that your child is as healthy as they can be. You might run into issues that you can't solve on your own. Having someone that you can regularly bring your child to can also help your child feel comfortable going to their doctor. It can be a safe space for your child to talk about any issues they might be dealing with and they can develop a rapport with their pediatrician”. Without a pediatrician, your child would not have a safe space with their doctor and they would also not want to go to the doctor. If they like their pediatricians then they would want to go to the doctor's office more than if they do not like their pediatricians.

The third reason, pediatricians are important is because of advocacy. They can serve as a bridge between the parent and the school. AAP, says, “Pediatricians can serve as a bridge between the parent/caregiver and the school and advocate for students who may require evaluations and mental health interventions at school”. It also says, “Pediatricians often have a trusting relationship with patients and families and offer family-centered care while demonstrating an understanding of the social, emotional, and educational problems in the context of child development. Therefore, the pediatrician has a unique opportunity to prevent and treat mental health problems through proactive guidance, early identification, and primary care mental health interventions”. The pediatrician has a very important role. They can act as bridges for schools, parents, and students who may require evaluations. They are also able to prevent and treat mental problems with proactive guidance.
Through all this evidence you can see that the role of a pediatrician is extremely important. They conduct comprehensive assessments on children, they have children's trust, they act as a bridge between school, parents/caregivers, and the child, and they can prevent and treat mental problems. They have a very important role in a child's life.
